Money Tree | Malabar Chestnut, Saba Nut, Pachira | Plant Care
Money Tree, ‘Malabar Chestnut, Saba Nut, Pachira’
Latin: Pachira aquatica
Light: Position your Money Tree in medium to bright indirect light, turning it every time you water it for even growth and leaf development.
Water: For a 5-inch money tree, water with 2 ice cubes or 3 TBSP of water once a week. Once water drips from the bottom of the pot, stop watering and empty the saucer. Your Money Tree requires less water in the winter months when growth slows.
Try not to move your Money Tree very often, they prefer to stay in the same spot. If you do need to relocate, you may see a bit of leaf drop. Not to worry, it will adjust.
Native from Mexico to northern South America, the Money Tree is also very popular in Taiwan and other East Asian countries. Commonly known as the Pachira Plant, the Money Tree plant is thought to bring good fortune to anyone who places it in their home or office. A braided trunk design is thought to symbolize the “locking in” of good fortune. It has also been said this plant assists in reducing stress, anxiety and lessening sleeping disorders.
